Project Overview

Commercial reception desk and modern corridor in Croydon, London

This Croydon project involved transforming an open commercial unit into a combined executive office and boutique wellness clinic. The brief required distinct environments for corporate consultations and clinical appointments while maintaining a consistent interior design throughout the premises.

The main challenge was balancing professional working areas with calm, welcoming spaces for wellness clients. Privacy, natural light and efficient circulation were therefore central to the design.

Our interior design team in Croydon developed a scheme that combines olive-green joinery, warm European oak, honed limestone and brushed brass details. These materials establish a professional yet approachable atmosphere across reception, consultation rooms and shared circulation areas.

Space Planning for Office and Wellness Facilities

The available floor space was organised into distinct public and confidential zones. This arrangement helps separate corporate consultations from clinical appointments while allowing both functions to operate within one premises.

Clear circulation routes connect the reception area with private rooms, helping visitors navigate the building without disturbing ongoing appointments or meetings.

The planning also considered the different needs of each environment. Executive spaces require discretion and a professional setting, while wellness rooms benefit from a quieter atmosphere and softer finishes.

This approach to commercial interior design demonstrates how careful space planning can support different business activities without making the overall interior feel disconnected.

Acoustic Privacy Through Specialist Glazing

Acoustic separation was an important part of the project, particularly where confidential discussions and clinical consultations take place close to shared corridors.

Double-glazed partitions with slim black aluminium frames separate private rooms from open circulation areas. The specified glazing provides a reported sound insulation rating of 42 dB Rw, helping limit sound transmission while allowing natural daylight to pass through the interior.

Additional acoustic measures include:

  • Solid-core timber doors with drop seals
  • Mineral wool insulation
  • Clearly separated confidential areas
  • Glazed partitions that maintain visual openness

Together, these elements help balance privacy with the benefits of a light, connected interior.

Bespoke Reception Joinery and Material Selection

The reception desk provides a distinctive focal point at the entrance. Constructed with fluted olive-green timber and a honed limestone counter, it introduces texture and natural tones while maintaining a professional appearance.

Recessed plinth LED lighting adds definition beneath the desk, while integrated commercial server housing keeps essential equipment within the reception joinery.

The wider material palette includes warm oak, soft stone wall cladding, taupe upholstery and brushed brass accents. Durable, non-porous stone surfaces were selected for the reception counter to support regular cleaning and maintenance.

These finishes create continuity across the office and wellness areas without relying on identical treatments in every room.

Calming Consultation and Wellness Rooms

The consultation rooms were designed to provide a quieter experience for clients. Warm 2700K indirect lighting creates a softer atmosphere, complemented by tactile linen wall finishes and carefully selected furnishings.

At the same time, practical requirements remain important. Surfaces need to be suitable for the cleaning routines required by the services provided, and the layout must support comfortable consultations without unnecessary interruptions.

The result is a more considered environment that brings together the professional requirements of client-facing work and the calmer qualities associated with wellness interiors.

Coordinated Commercial Interior Delivery

Combining an executive workplace with wellness facilities requires close coordination between space planning, acoustic treatments, joinery and lighting. Each element needs to support the building’s different uses while contributing to a consistent design.

Through its commercial design approach and coordination with a commercial construction company in London, Oraanj Interiors brought these requirements together in one integrated scheme.

The Croydon project demonstrates how thoughtful planning and carefully selected materials can help transform an open commercial unit into a functional workplace and wellness environment. To explore more examples of our work, view the Oraanj Interiors portfolio.
