A neighbourhood salon designed for efficient stylist workflow and client comfort
For this busy South West London hair salon, our brief was to optimise a long, narrow commercial unit to increase styling capacity without feeling crowded. We organised the salon longitudinally, positioning the reception desk and retail display at the shopfront, eight double-sided styling stations along the centre, and an enclosed wash and colour bar at the quiet rear of the plan.
Bespoke joinery units in natural blonde oak incorporate integrated power tracks, concealed hairdryer holsters, and hidden storage for towels and products, keeping the floor area safe and uncluttered. Large arched halo-lit mirrors provide balanced, shadowless illumination on clients’ faces and hair, essential for accurate cut and colour appraisal.
Spatial Efficiency, Task Lighting & Hardwearing Commercial Finishes
Detailed to withstand heavy commercial use, support stylist speed, and provide a welcoming client experience.
To withstand hair dyes, bleach, and constant washing, surfaces had to be exceptionally resilient. We specified chemical-resistant quartz for the central colour preparation island and laid commercial-grade, slip-rated porcelain tiles throughout the cutting floor. In the rear wash area, we lowered the ceiling height and introduced acoustic baffle panels to absorb the sound of running water and blow dryers, pairing this with dimmable warm cove lighting so clients can relax during hair treatments.
